IMHO, we should select GNU style (even if it is not best one). Below is a
story.
I was working for a company ... it has strictly enforced coding standard
(non-GNU),
everybody has common piece in '.emacs' file. One day we switched to
emacs-19.30
and found that our nice formatting stuff does not work anymore, and no one
of
us have any idea why.
GNU style is default for all versions of emacs and it is produced by ident
without
arguments.
