Chris,

Thanks for the directions of this patch.
Yes, it worked on my Pentium 100MHz - Dell OptiPlex  GXM 5100.
I used CDTEST.EXE build from the snapshot  "0709" + changes.
So, I would say that my changes to the master makefile ( pc386.cfg ),
merged in the distribution,  got the problem that you had fixed.

I used Grub 0.5.
