Yes. It is just a set of per-thread variables that
you are free to use as you wish. You just have to
be careful to not conflict with other uses of the
same notepad.

The API is there because that is what the RTEID
and ORKID specifications required.

Personally, it is my least favorite part of the
RTEMS Classic API.
