qemu and usb

Hi,

I was looking over the qemu documentation today and came
across a section where it discussed accessing native USB
devices and emulating a USB controller.

Has anyone tried this?  I can't seem to get the usb_add
command to add any device.

I was hoping to boot a GNU/Linux rescue CD image and see
if I could make a native USB device show up.
