RFC: upgrading sparc-rtems4.8-gdb to gdb-6.8?

Hi,

Is anybody opposed to upgrading sparc-rtems4.8-gdb to gdb-4.8 
rsp. aware about any reason for not doing so?

Background: Current sparc-rtems4.8-gdb is the last gdb package using
gdb-4.7.1 and requires a customized set of patches to be able build it.

I would rather lift a bit of work-load off from my shoulders by syncing
this customized set of patches with those of sparc-rtems4.9-gdb.

Opinions/comments?
