netdemo udp broadcast failure on qemu

Hi,

netdemo on qemu with i82551er (libbsd)
or ne2k_isa driver.  telnet to the
echo server and ping work.  But udp
broadcast isn't.

   - enter "u" for udp broadcast:

Gives this output.

Accept.
u
Create socket.
Bind socket.
Opt:0    Optlen:4
Opt:32    Optlen:4
Can't broadcast: Host is unreachable
fatal error, exiting

I don't know what that means.  Do we need another
route on the target?

What magic incantation am I missing?
